24 Years of Dedicated Service as the Executive Director

Every child who walks through our doors deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. That belief has guided me every day for the past 24 years

For over two decades, Jacquetta Watkins has been the unwavering force behind The Study Hall’s mission to nurture, educate, and empower young minds in Atlanta. Since stepping into the role of Executive Director in 2000, Jacquetta has led with quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unshakeable belief in the potential of every child.

Under her leadership, The Study Hall has grown from a small neighborhood afterschool program into a cornerstone of the community, offering year-round academic support, enrichment activities, and summer learning opportunities to K–5th grade students across the city. Her vision transformed The Study Hall into more than just a place to do homework; it became a safe haven, a launchpad, and for many families, a lifeline.

What makes Jacquetta’s leadership so remarkable is not just the longevity of her service, but the legacy she’s built. She has mentored staff, partnered with parents, and helped shape the lives of hundreds of children, many of whom return to share how The Study Hall changed the course of their futures. Her ability to lead with empathy while keeping excellence at the forefront has made her a trusted voice in the community and a beloved figure to generations of students.

As she celebrates 24 years of dedicated service, Jacquetta’s impact is unmistakable. She has not only sustained The Study Hall through times of growth and challenge, she has shaped it into a beacon of hope, learning, and love.
